Pak warns of arrest if Sharif returns

London/ Islamabad, August 24: With the Supreme Court ending his exile yesterday, former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has vowed to return home soon to help his party oust President Pervez Musharraf. He also confirmed that he plans to run for a third term as Prime Minister.

“If the people of Pakistan elect me to serve the country, I'll be honored to do that,” he said.

2nd ODI: India beat England, level series 1-1

Sachin Tendulkar's 99 set up India's nine-run victory against England at Bristol on Friday which saw them level the seven-match One-Day International series 1-1.

Tendulkar's innings was the centrepiece of India's record 329 for seven against England.
The hosts got close with 320 for eight. Ian Bell top-scored with 64 and all-rounder Dimtri Mascarenhas, whose previous-best score was five, later kept England in the hunt when it seemed they were out of the game with a 36-ball fifty featuring five sixes and a four before he holed out for 52.

Bhupathi, Sania reach Pilot Pen finals

Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza fought their way to the doubles finals of their respective events at the Pilot Pen Classic in New Haven, USA.

Though it was a straight-set victory for Bhupathi and his Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic, the going was not easy for the top seeds who managed a 7-5, 7-6 (2) win to book their berth in the men's doubles summit clash.

In the final, the Indo-Serbian pair will meet Polish duo of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski.

Fourth-seeded Fyrstenberg and Matkowski defeated Jordan Kerr of Australia and Jamie Murray of Britain 6-2, 6-3.

Sanjay's fans missing on final day

Anxious to see Sanjay Dutt, hundreds of fans had gathered on Tuesday and Wednesday, many dressed in their best to look good on television.

On Thursday morning, however, there were absolutely no fans outside the jail, barring journalists and television crew, to whom Dutt waved as he stepped out.

However, his 3-km journey to the Lohegaon airport took nearly 30 minutes and was full of high drama as about 15 media vehicles followed him and brought his jeep to a halt on many occasions.
